In August, as part of my dual study program at Rheinische Post, I had the opportunity to go to Hamburg for four weeks to complete my internship at DVV Media Group. It was clear from day one that this internship would not involve just watching, but really getting stuck in and learning lots of new things.
What I found particularly exciting was that I was able to get a taste of several different departments: from sales marketing to online development and data services to media production. I got to prepare newsletters, create advertising mailings, learn about campaign planning and data preparation, customize websites with Typo3—and even get a little introduction to Python (a programming language), which was surprisingly fun. The program also included a look at layout design with InDesign. Each department gave me new insights and made the month incredibly varied.
My personal highlight was the trainee meeting, where we planned the next issue of Azubi Insight—from choosing topics (which are still top secret, of course 😉) to writing individual articles. It was inspiring to see how much creativity and team spirit the trainees put into designing their own magazine.
In addition to the many professional impressions, Hamburg itself was of course also an experience: a lively city with incredibly friendly people, exciting corners to discover—and, luckily for me, almost consistently good weather.
My conclusion: Four weeks full of new experiences, warm encounters, a great city, and memories that will last.
Or, in three words: warm, varied, and educational.
A big thank you goes out to everyone who supported me and welcomed me so warmly.
