Munitions Clearance Week, which will take place in Kiel from June 18 to 20, 2025, is all about munitions clearance and the protection of critical infrastructure in our seas.
Today, experts estimate that there are 1.6 million tons of conventional munitions and 500 tons of chemical warfare agents in the German North Sea and Baltic Sea. A huge legacy from a dark time, which also offers an opportunity for Germany to take on a pioneering technological role. The aim of this event is to bring together international players to discuss progress, innovations and challenges in dealing with munitions residues in the sea. The focus is on cooperation between science, environmental organizations and industry to tackle the problem of underwater munitions. Editor Robert Prellwitz is there live for Ship&Offshore.
