Military Shengen in Hamburg

On 30 September 2025, the Military Schengen event took place in Hamburg. The conference, organised by Griephan in cooperation with DVZ, highlighted military-civilian cooperation in military logistics. Nearly 300 participants demonstrated the great interest among logistics specialists.

Lieutenant General André Bodemann, Deputy Commander of the Bundeswehr Operational Command and Commander of Territorial Tasks, made it clear in his keynote speech that civilian support for the armed forces is essential. Captain Frank Fähnrich and Colonel Rüdiger Just Winkler, two other representatives from the Bundeswehr Operational Command, acknowledged on the podium that unclear requirements and the inevitable tendering process make procurement difficult.

Major General Detlev Simons, Chief of Staff at NATO’s Joint Support and Enabling Command, and Brigadier General Henny Bouman, Chairman of PESCO NL, provided an international perspective at the event. Representatives from the motorway company, the Federal Office for Mobility and Logistics, BLG and Niedersachsen Ports also shared the perspective of civil industry and service providers. The event thus fulfilled its purpose in the best possible way, bringing the players from both sides into dialogue and creating mutual understanding.
