The DVV Media Group organized the Eurailpress Forum “Alternative drives in regional rail transport” for the seventh time on 25.07.2024 in Hamburg.
Since 2017, this event has been dedicated to the drive turnaround in regional train services: away from diesel and towards battery and hydrogen trains. While in the first few years the focus was on concepts, studies and plans, the participants can now exchange experiences with the first trains in real operation. This year’s focus was on the launch of battery-electric trains in regional transport in Schleswig-Holstein, supplemented by a presentation on the start of operation of hydrogen trains in the Taunus region. Other topics included the hydrogen supply for rail vehicles, initial scientific findings on the use of HVO100 in trains and, last but not least, the difficult framework conditions for innovations in local rail passenger transport.
With around 100 participants (almost 20 of whom took part in the livestream), the established event was once again very well received.
